No frills, clean, and relevantly priced. Beautiful setting! Fun to ride around the area and see birds and scenery. Do not expect frills and you will love it!
No issues. You can't beat the stay and play value. $100 per person, includes one night, a round of golf, and a breakfast item. Ms. Vicksburg ( didn't catch her name) was great checking us in. Very informative. Only complaint would be breakfast wasnt available until 9am. You could drive to Delhi for Burger King, but we just started our round and got the breakfast on the turn. Thanks for a good time!
The lodge is near the reservoir, but you can't see the water. The golf course is next door. The lodge is small but beautifully decorated. We are on the 2nd floor and have our own private balcony! It has a tennis court and swimming pool. There is no elevator, so they instead offered to take our belongings upstairs if we wished.
We arrived after hours and the nice lady picked the call right up and guided us to our room. Clean and simple, it is well priced and close to golf, lodge, and marinas. Breakfast at nearby lodge was great. REALLY GOOD SPOT IF YOU ARE GOING TO POVERTY POINT! Its about 15 min away and there are so few nice hotels in the area.
The Champion Black Bear Lodge is on a beautiful site. I spent my morning walking along the golf course before learning there were really black bears in the area and occasionally on the course. The service personnel deserved a five. They were pleasant and very helpful. However, the front desk closes at 8 pm and reopens at 7 am. You can easily get locked out the lodge at night. There is a number to call if that happens. There are 17 rooms in this state owned lodge. Each room has a small coffee pots and a refrigerator. The beds are uncomfortable. However, the room is clean and serves it purpose. I was heading to the Poverty Point Indian mounds and it was the most convenient place to stay. I would stay hear again if going to the mounds. There is a microwave in the lobby. You receive a voucher for a free breakfast at the neighboring golf club, a short walk from the lodge. It’s a good full service breakfast. The golf club also has a bar and its restaurant serves three meals a day. The clubhouse closes at 3 on Sundays and all day on Mondays. There is no elevator. If you have problems with stairs request a first floor room. The lodge offers an in heated pool, tennis court and of course, golf.
Tv was tiny, missing outlet cover, there was a coffee pot in the room but no coffee. The room was quiet and location was good considering there’s no other hotels in the Delhi area.
